Gwen Potter was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana and for the last ten years has realized her childhood dreams of being a dancer, choreographer, and teacher here in NYC. Gwen received a BA in Dance from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
Gwen has had the great pleasure of performing on many different platforms within the commercial dance and live stage genres. Her performance credits include: Good Morning America, Adidas, Alice and Olivia, Smashbox Cosmetics, Reebok, Harlem Globetrotters, Facebook, Thinx, and many more. She also studied and performed with Anthony Locascio’s Taplife company for just under two years.
Gwen’s choreographic work has graced the stage of many reputable venues in the city such as Alvin Ailey, Lincoln Center, Dixon Place, Highline Ballroom, and other dance festivals in the tri-state area. She also teaches masterclasses and sets work for dance studios and non-profit companies around the country. As well as performing, teaching, and choreographing she enjoys movement coaching and has had the great pleasure of working with musical artists such as: Xavier White, Shenna, Rica Shay Jennifair, Calvin Play, Machineheart, and more.
One of Gwen’s biggest passions is educating the future generation of dancers and inspiring them as her teachers once did for her. She is on faculty with BDC’s Children and Teens Program teaching a variety of styles, and runs their Tap company, Rhythm Arts Project.
Gwen’s passion for teaching grows deeper each day as she delves into an ever-broadening range of dance styles. She continues to develop her voice as not only an educator, but as a performer and choreographer in the city of her dreams.
